E-commerce is the purchase and sale of products and services through the internet, which enables the seller to present products in detail and the buyer to make payments easily.

This modality has different components and uses technologies such as mCommerce to enable online purchases with mobile phones, fintech, supply chain management, digital marketing, electronic data exchange, inventory system and data collection systems management.

E-commerce can take place in different ways and through various apps: mail, catalogues and shopping carts, electronic data exchange, data transfer protocols and web services.

There are a number of e-commerce models, such as online stores that have the same features as actual stores, though adapted to the internet. For example, Vans or Pull & Bear manage both actual and online stores.

Currently, e-commerce ranges from ordering digital content for immediate consumption to ordering conventional goods and services.

Financial data exchange is highly important in the e-commerce process in enabling national and international business. Data integrity and safety are vital in these processes.

Advantages to this type of businesses include: sales may occur 24 hours a day, the provision of products and services is done quickly, and you may sell not only to a specific location, but worldwide.

Additionally, new customer services and technologies allow for faster and more efficient shipping, even within an hour, so users do not have to wait for the desired product. Not to mention the great variety of payment means available which are carried out through secure channels for customers’ peace of mind.

In addition, there is an opportunity to encourage clients’ loyalty by means of effective communication, often by use of portals where user may leave questions, complaints and comments on the products.

From the user’s perspective, there is a benefit to finding better prices and scrolling extensively before deciding to make a purchase. It is also comforting to receive what was purchased at home without having to go shopping to any physical store. As previously mentioned, consumers may have the chance to comment on their dissatisfaction, or request an exchange for products acquired, circumventing what is often a mistrust-generating issue for consumers.

Therefore, e-commerce is a model and business undertaking that is safe and effective, that uses the established systems and leads to an effective and immediate customer service which, in turn, makes it a thriving trade method.
